This car has been swapped from manual transmission to a th400 auto. I am replacing the shifter that was in it. It did not have the neutral safety switch or the back up lights switch connected. I can not find the connector for the back up lights. Can live without back up lights. Was going to use the clutch safety switch wires to go to my neutral safety switch but that switch is gone and so far can't find that connector either. Anyway I have a harness coming up from the passenger side floor, it has one wire to the parking brake light switch, two wires that go a connector that leads to the hatch relay and hatch switch, and 3 wires orange, gray, and black that go to a female connector that is not connected to anything. What is this connector for?
Orange is constant 12V+, gray is gauge lighting. Just shooting from the hip, I'd say that's the plug for the console clock. Doesn't really matter, it's not related to the transmission.
The NSS would have been in the main harness up by the C100 bulkhead connector. The reverse lights would have been in the engine harness.

There should have been a connector that went to the manual transmission for the reverse lights. Why would it not be there? I was thinking about dropping the steering column down to access the ignition switch, then follow the yellow wire and find a good spot to cut it and wire it to the neutral safety switch on my shifter.
Console clock is indeed what it looks like. Org = courtesy light circuit (constant battery), blk = gnd, grey = dash lights.
Manual trans backup light wiring is blue & green and doesn't follow that path. It's under the hood and breaks out from the big harness that goes over the bell housing, right about behind & below the left valve cover.
Clutch safety sw wiring is always there, AFAIK. Wires are yellow & purple, seems like it's a white plug. Pretty sure IT'S THERE. I would NOT "cut" ANYTHING for any reason if I could help it. Make an extension to them to go to the switch at the shifter if that's what it takes, but NO CUTTING.
Thanks for the information. I will look again tomorrow. I know if I pulled the manual trans and switched to auto I would have unplugged the clutch safety switch and put a jumper wire in it if I wasn't going to run it to the shifter nuetral safety switch. As far as the back up lights I will look around the bell housing, if I find the plug I will connect the backup lights. The drivers side is very tight, they put the tall valve covers on the engine too which makes it even harder to see things.

Found the yellow and purple wire, they cut the connector off and crimped the wires together and they were way over near the kick panel. Will be easy to run them to my nss switch on B&M shifter. I looked behind the engine for the backup switch connector and/or the blue and green wires and couldn't find. If I have the engine out someday I may be able to find. One harness was cut off at the firewall near the heater core.
