High Beam Flasher
Hi guys. All my lights are working fine on my 84 Camaro and when the headlights are on i can switch from low beam to high beam and back again with no issues. My question is, when the headlights are off and I pull the lever forward, shouldn't the high beams flash? I.e. if warning another driver coming towards you. If they are supposed to flash in this way, any ideas why that would be the only thing that isn't working with my lights? Thanks

The short answer is that your lights are operating "as built" , the "flash to pass" feature wasn't in any of the 1980s F bodies ... Thread Starter

Yeah, there's a shortage of "features from the future" on these cars.
Just getting that switch up off the floorboard where it had always been, and up onto the steering column, was a pretty wrenching change all by itself.

Berls had it ? Bless them , between those and the digital dash on some of the Firebirds GM really was "feature happy" with our cars . So , now the question becomes , will a berlinetta high beam switch retrofit into all the other third gen Camaros that were not built with the flash to pass ? (Course , it wouldn't be of much use to us Firebird owners , unless it could also open & close the headlight doors with each flash

Re: High Beam Flasher
Nope,... the function was built into the Headlight Pod ( high beam button ) and the Light Module. While some genius might be able to figure out how they relayed the BEAM and HEAD light signals and put it on a independent switch, it's probably MUCH simpler to find an old school floor dimmer from a pre-80's car and custom install it.
