Shorted wire

I have a fusible link that has 2 redwires going into it and 1 orange link coming out going to a positive lug connector on the starter. Cut the fusible link and mold splice off and have isolated which of the red wires is shorted. It goes into the c100 connector and I cant trace it under the dash please help. Where does this wire go and is it still a red wire under the dash?

Re: Shorted wire

Here is a picture of the link

The lowest link in this picture is the one i cut off because of a short. You can see two red wires going in.

Re: Shorted wire

Just replace both fusible links with new ones. Those 2 large red wires are the main power for the interior and electrical systems....

I already did one of them but I'm having trouble tracing the other while under the dash because I have to find where it is shorted

The Power-Distribution varies by Model-Year and Engine.

Is this Thread regarding the 1986 2.8L listed with your user name/ info?

Re: Shorted wire

The C100 Connector for your vehicle will use Terminal positions A4 and G5 to pass 12V from the Fusible-Link at the Starter-Motor into the cabin.

G5 powers the Head-Lamp/ Running-Lamp Switch, and the Accessory Fuse in the Instrument-Panel Bussed Electrical-Center.

A4 will go to the Ignition-Switch, the Lift-Gate Lid Fuse, the Stop/ Hazard Fuse, and the Circuit-Breaker for Power-Accessories.
