what is this connector/ red wire

Does anyone know what this is and what its purpose is? Its on the driverside firewall

Looks like a splice job to me. If it is, it'll be hard to tell where it goes or what it's function is.

Its not a splice job, that is a fusible link in it

You engine VIN is "G"?

If so, it's Fusible Link "F" and its connector plugs into the coolant fan relay.

Hmm. I beleive it is g, but my fan relay is to the right of the battery.

87 LG4 should be H in eighth digit and should have the fan relay on the firewall with that, or a similar, connector. Was a later relay installed, wired and that connector left hanging?

A similar relay and connector was also used for the fuel pump on some. Does the control lead run thru the oil pressure switch (tee'd off the oil pressure sender rear of the intake manifold)?
