Rear Defroster not working

hey guys
not new here. .but new to posting stuff. in may i picked up a 1987 Iroc Z in bright blue.. 5.0 auto with t tops.
My current concerns are window adjustments and rear window defroster.. i'll begin this thread about the defroster.
the light on the switch turns on, but the window does not defrost.

the pads on the window appear solid.. and i dont SEE any breaks in the grid.. i'll go over it again and re check.. anyone have any tips on where it might be shorted or busted? this is my first 3rd gen.

Re: Rear Defroster not working

Check the wire that connects to the glass behind the plastic panels. A lot of times the wire corrodes back there and falls apart breaking the circuit.

Re: Rear Defroster not working

The wires in question are short, maybe 6" each, as far as what you can see, emerging from the plastic interior parts. One connects to the bottom of each of the hatch struts.
