1992 Camaro Roller Car VATS help!

I am looking to get help on my 1992 Camaro RS that no longer has the drivetrain installed. I have sadly lost the keys during moving the car from my deceased fathers house to mine. I am curious if the car does not have a engine and trans installed. Would I still be able to look up what the VATS key blank number? I know there is only key number 1-15 when ordering a new blank. Any help on this would be appreciated. The interior wire harness is still all intact including the ignition. However, the pcm/engine computer is no longer with the car! I am needing to sell the car soon and would like to provide a working spare key to the new owner.

Re: 1992 Camaro Roller Car VATS help!

Less and less GM Dealerships still offer these Keys.
I do not know the Laws pertaining to this in TX...
But in NY, where I live:
-Bring State photo ID/ Driver's License.
-Bring prof of Ownership/ Title and Registration.
-Bring the VIN

The Dealership Parts Manager sends a request to GM, and they reply back the Key-Code (Pattern to cut the Key) and the Resistance Value for VATS.

If the Dealership near you does not offer this service anymore.

Ask for an appointment with the Service-Manager...
They can verify your Documents, contact the Regional Service-Manager to locate a Dealership that can provide this service to you.

Buy a new ignition lock cylinder with keys. I did this a few years ago. Keys were stamped with #2 which I then took to a locksmith and he cut me those keys with the pellets in them for $7.50/key. Don't go to a dealership and get ripped off

Here’s a link to a VATS thread that I updated based on my experience with our 91 RS fairly recently. It was a real pain and maybe my experience will save you some time…fortunately, we found the keys but it wasn’t looking promising otherwise…Best of luck to you!
