Steering column plugs/linkages

Hello, I recently picked up a mostly complete 84 v6 automatic that was a donor car for someone's project. I am trying to install a steering column that came included with the car but I am not sure if it's the right year column or if I'm missing components. There are a couple loose plugs under the dash an on the column but some don't match up to anything. Also there are two linkages rods coming from the column itself and one moved when the ignition key is turned, what am I missing to make this functional? I want the engine to turn over when the key is turned

What do these bolts on the shaft go to?

The two plugs on the shaft

5 unconnected plugs under the dash, only one matches up to the steering column

You are missing the Ignition switch and the highbeam switch, that's what goes on those bolts, gets controlled by those pushrods, and plugs into the "mystery plugs" under the dash

I had these in the trunk,I think this is how they go on, they match up to the linkages but there's still two unused bolt holes. Thanks for the input. It's also an automatic so I'm not sure if theres some kind of connection between this and the shifter

Re: Steering column plugs/linkages

The little 3-wire ribbon cable is from the cruise switch. If your acceptor car doesn't have cruise, it'll have nowhere to go.

The large plug solidly mounted to the column is parking, brake, and turn signal lights. Should be a plug under the dash to match it. The plug hanging off with 5 wires is for the wipers. Since there are several varieties of wiper systems in different trim levels and years, it might or might not match the car.

Re: Steering column plugs/linkages

This is an 84 firebird SE and it does have cruise control. I don't plan on using it but I'll look for the plug that ribbon cable goes to. I have the column back in and it works fine now, the horn doesn't work and someone broke off the tip of the wiper arm. But it does what I need it to. My next issue is shifter related

The red plastic tipped cable, what is this and does it get linked to the stud on the shifter (bottom right corner of photo) also that weird rotating plug, is this HVAC related? Thanks for your help guys, I really appreciate it.

Re: Steering column plugs/linkages

The red tipped cable is the heat blend door control cable. Goes to the AC control head, along with that vacuum line plug thing. Should also be 2 electrical connectors that go to that as well.

Yes I have the electrical plugs mated to the HVAC controls. Thanks, now I know I can ignore these cables for now
