Hatch wiring missing switch?

I believe in missing the top switch in this car that activates the motor but I'm not 100% sure on that.

I have 2 wires out of the relay and black and white one with no connectors on them that go to nothing. I have an orange wire out of the pigtail that connects to nothing. That black and orange wire is for the light and I believe I have it correctly connected to the white plug. The final wire is on the passenger side of the car it has the 2 wires from the front and a black ground wire coming off that is attached to nothing.

You're in luck. I just put the 88-91 striker-sensing switch in stock on my web site. Look for part number 207180 on top-downsolutions.com.

Thanks I will order one - what do I do with the leftover white and black wire out of the relay?

Re: Hatch wiring missing switch?

The white wire plugs into a black with Orange stripe wire on 90-91 pull-down unit. It is a switched ground to turn on/off the rear hatch light. Earlier model years had a manual switch for the optional hatch light. In other words, for those earlier years that white wire is unused.

Hey Lon I was able to get everything installed except the hatch relay. The connector under the dash doesn't match up to the relay I ordered unless I have the wrong connector. Also after installing the hatch release solenoid the key is much harder to turn - how can I remedy this?

Re: Hatch wiring missing switch?

That would be because you ordered the hatch release relay (706150) instead of the hatch pull-down relay (208180). Remove and reinstall the hatch release solenoid. It must match with the release tang that opens the latch.
