91 Z28 gauge cluster issues
Okay so I've been getting oh so close to actually driving my car after this 5 year build I've been doing. A couple months ago while I was kinda going thru wiring in the engine bay I came across 3 fusible links 2 of them I knew hooked up to the starter but the 3rd had me a bit stumped.
So in my infinite wisdom I just hooked it up to the starter as well and noticed as I did that every single light on the cluster came on briefly followed by a faint beep. Now the only gauges that work are the volt and coolant.
That 3rd fusible link was for the fans which I now know. So today I took the cluster right out and started to multimeter the pins behind the cluster and I've got power, my fuel pin ohms to 79 ohms with the fuel that's in the tank currently but none of that info is coming to the cluster, and speedo and tachometer same thing nothing happening.
I'm thinking my hooking wires up thing kinda bit meet in the *** which is fine, but is there a way to fix it or just scrap it and buy a Holley digital dash??
I did grab a schematic from Austin's 3rd gen and noticed issues with wire colors. Like the speedo is brown on the schematic but I've got no brown wires except the tan oil pressure wire. And the numbering on the schematic is wrong for the driver side but whatever

Re: 91 Z28 gauge cluster issues
I assume you are aware that with the exception of voltage and fuel, the gauges need to be wired direct from your sensors or ECU as stand alone feeds? Coolant and oil tap into C100 harness leads. Tachometer output setting in HP tuners should be changed to a 3. And then usually requires a 100k ohm 1/4 watt resistor in-line to that circuit lead as well. Just making sure you are already there before replacing cluster.
