VATS issues

I have a 92 firebird 305.. previously i installed a vats bypass and it worked fine.. a few weeks ago i had a “mechanic” take apart and tighten my column, but for whatever reason he cut the 2 white wires on my ignition cylinder and pulled the entire orange wire out of the column.. he said it didn’t matter as the vats was bypassed.. but of course now my car won’t turn over nor the fuel pump engage.. sooooo what are my options? Do i re attach the wires or am i kinda in trouble ..

Re: VATS issues

Fuel pump running doesn’t have anything to do with vats.
could still have a vats issue. Might jumper or check voltage at fuel pump relay
as well as pump/ecm fuse next to battery. The key reader was not used so those wires do nothing.

Re: VATS issues

I want to try the bypass at the starter enable relay but can’t find it .. in a 92 is it in the engine bay or the drivers kick panel ?

Re: VATS issues

It’s either drivers side kick panel or tucked under dash kinda by kick panel.

Re: VATS issues

Ok the first pic is what i am working with.. the guy who “installed” the radio wires and back up camera and new double din(none work) did all this .. then disappeared. The rest are of what connectors i can see by the lock panel and tucked under the dash.. which am i looking for to bypass the vats?

Re: VATS issues

Hard to tell in pictures if this is for fog lights or vats. Colors look like green and yellow

Re: VATS issues

Hi Irishamericanld,

In this wiring diagram, near the bottom on the right hand side, is your VATS "starter enable relay". From the diagram, your relay should have a large yellow, a large dark green, a small pink, and a small black with yellow tracer. If you find that relay, it'll be the large yellow and large green you'll need to jump together to get your starter to crank the engine. If, as your first post stated, VATS was truly bypassed, this should get it to crank.

PS, you really should sort out all of the other stuff that's unplugged under there, and TP's advice about checking the fender mounted fuse should be a top priority as well ....

Re: VATS issues

Do you have power at the enable relay or at any other circuits in the fuse box ?
