Vats system vs passkey???
I was looking at getting a new steering column . I currently have a vats system the new column has passkey which I belive is older version. Is this compatible?
Re: Vats system vs passkey???
VATS is Passkey, they are two different names for the same thing.

You have to have the matching passkey module for the resistance of the key or swap out key cylinder with old cylinder

Use the matching module and tear apart half the dash or use your old key cylinder and old key.

Re: Vats system vs passkey???
so if I replace the old module with the new one and just plug it in everything will work as it should.. I probably will wind up doing that considering I need to do heat core anyway. Thank you

Re: Vats system vs passkey???
Technically for GM, "VATS" stands for: "Vehicle Anti-Theft System".
GM has Two Sub-Systems of VATS:
-1: Pass-Key (Found in our Cars), Pass-Key II, and Pass-Key III (Until recently Modern GM Vehicles would have either "PK3" or "+" on the Key for this System.
-2: Pass-Lock (another System with multiple revisions, and the Key is NOT part of the System, just the Lock-Cylinder is).
