Weird switch inside motor

Hi everyone!

Yesterday, when I went on a short drive, my car wouldn't start at a quick stop. Our theory is that the alarm system somehow locked the motor, but we managed to fix it. However, we discovered this peculiar switch connected to the starter. I may not know much about cars and electronics, but I feel like a loose switch like this shouldn't be inside an engine, i just get bad vibes from seeing this.

That's somebody's hack repair to try to fix, , , , something.......

Since the car starts & runs, follow that one black wire to where it's connected (you say it's hooked up to the starter) and disconnect it.

PS, Metal wristwatches, or rings, or any other type jewelry, are an absolute no no while working on any type of mechanical devices, ESPECIALLY electrical !!!!!

DIY killswitch? Probably just hooked the original wire back up when they sold the vehicle later, left the rest laying there.

If it's going to the starter solenoid...my guess, remote start switch...

Re: Weird switch inside motor

It's a switch with only one wire. It's not really functional in its current state.

It's a decoy switch.
