Hi guys! Is it hard to remove this heater box? The hoses are already not hooked up, it works from the inside just fine but I assume any air I’d be getting is just hot air from inside the engine bay.

I’d love to remove the entire unit, put a nice steel or aluminum plate on the firewall and remount the ignition coil so it’s vertical again. Any advice would be appreciated, I don’t know much about the heat/AC on these ones!

 

It's not too bad to remove. The only fasteners for the heater box itself are around the edge of the box. I can't quite remember how many there were but definitely start at the bottom and save the accessible top ones for last. If you remove the bottoms first the heater box has a tendency to sag and obstruct your hands.

There's a seal between the firewall and box, you'll probably have some stuck to the firewall that needs to get cleaned/peeled off. If you don't ever plan on re-installing you can remove the wiring harness from the climate controls inside the car to clean things up more too.
