Trying to remember what all connections I have. Can't seem to remember what this heavier gauge yellow purple wire and plug goes to.

 

Large purple wire is typically part of the starter solenoid circuit?

 

I "think" that goes to the starter enable relay.

 

Be nice to see that plugged into what it's supposed to be in a photo of an untouched original car as a reference

 

Neutral safety switch for a manual car

 

This car is a factory tpi automatic car. No manual transmission

 

Don't have a reference photo for you but here's the diagram, others are correct this is for the starter circuit

 

The harness has all the wiring for both auto and manual, to keep production costs and chances for error down.

 

Some Cars were done that way and some were not....
It varied from Model-Year to Model-Year.

Damn Bureaucrats can't decide anything, and usually screw everything up!!!

 

My auto car had that wire. It was very convenient when I swapped it to a stick!

 

So from the sound of it this wire is just "there" in an auto car and more for manual transmission cars

 

Look at the schematic. It tells you all you need to know. In a manual car, that one is for the clutch safety switch, which does THE EXACT SAME THING as the neutral safety switch in an auto car. In a manual car, the auto NSS connector can be found dangling under the console, just like that one is now doing in your auto car.
