#8 plug

Is there a trick to replacing the #8 spark plug? I had a hard enough getting the wire to it. I'm cringing at the thought of changing the plug!

with a plug socket and a 3/4 wrench or short ratchet.

You're gonna have to raise the car and wiggle under there to get the #8 plug. You can access it immediately behind the a-arm (or whatever its called)....

Yeah that #8 plug is a *****. You're gonna have to wiggle (or jack the car up in my case...) under the car and get at it from behind the a-arm (or whatever its called).

Well this might sounds STUPID but it worked for me. When I got my headers put on I couldnt get anything in to even get touch my #8. So what I did was take the socket wrench and bust off the the Porcelin of the plug, then I put the normal socket head on and took it right off. I know it is risky but if you dont smash it and break it off int he egine you are fine and this is a pretty damn easy way.

I have Edelbrock headers (switching soon to SLP, hopefully), and i found a very easy way. Take a spark plug wrench socket, go to a machine shop or wherever and have it shaved down to a length of 1 11/16". Using this, with a ratchet and 3/4 socket, I can change ALL my plugs in about 40 mins. My record was 30 mins. I can do all my plugs from the top, except #6 and #8, but even then, those are the EASIEST for me to do. Believe it or not, the passenger side is easier with this shaved down socket.

Me to that little slot (i did mine with a die grinder) has made changing my plugs so easy. It takes no time at all after you have had plenty of practice.

How about picking up a 200-185 Jet fan switch and swap it too while you're under there !

#7 and 8 are both pretty tough, but if you dont have A/C or smog its a little eaiser. I takes me all of 10 min. to change plugs, of course I've done it a few hundred times, and I can reach all of them from the top too, so that makes it quicker.
