Ok, so I bought a Camaro for cheap. Newest project. The alternator was overvolting. Turns out they had the brown wire coming off the alternator plugged into what looks to be a coil or something. Didn't really look into it. Just saw the black tape and knew it shouldn't be there. Unplugged it, and my volts went right back down to 14. My question is, where exactly does this brown wire go? I made a post on FB and shared some pictures. Our best guess from reading was to the fan relay. My guess is the brown wire from the alternator originally ran to the wire that was cut and spliced into the main harness brown wire. So I'm thinking I should unsplice, and connect the alternator brown wire to the other one that runs the the relay. Any input would be appreciated. This is what they had the brown wire tiend into for some reason. Found this brown wire in the harness cut/taped and crimped to the brown wire in the main harness. Another picture Where the brown wire that was cut and tied into to main relay leads.
