Washer pump

My washer pump has never worked since I bought my car 16 years ago. I've always thought it was a bad multifunction lever (cruise also not working), but I tried it again today and I can hear a faint clicking sound coming from the pump when I work the switch. I looked on YouTube and didn't see many videos, but I'm assuming the wiper motor cover needs to come off before removing the pump?

It would be nice to get this working because I don't drive it a lot, and when I pull it out of the garage there's usually a layer of dust on the windshield.

Re: Washer pump

I think a damp towel would be best for that settled dust situation-just the washer and wiper will cause scratches in windsheild after a while.

Re: Washer pump

There is a small 90* clip you have to push the tab on it, remove clip and slide pump out of cover. A new pump usually comes with a new clip. You may buy a pump and look at it first.
Pretty simple once you see it.

Probably so. I've been just hosing it off before turning on the wipers.

Re: Washer pump

Got the new pump in, but it still doesn't work. I can still hear the faint click when I use the switch though. I cleaned the ground strap and disconnected and reconnected the connectors, but still nothing.

It shouldn't be the fuse since the wipers do work.

Re: Washer pump

Update. I removed the pump and tested it by connecting it to my jump box, and it worked. I reinstalled it back into the car, and now it works. I'm guessing it just needed a little jump start to get it going.

This was a clearance pump from Rock Auto and it looked like it had been on a shelf since the 90s. I've never heard of Auto Works before. 🤷🏻‍♂️
