Hi everyone!

Does anyone know what the device in front of washer fluid tank can be ?



The car is a 83 MSE trans am. I have no idea of what it is. There is a ground wire and another one going under the dash and the way that wire is set means it hasn't been assembled in factory.

I'd just like to know if it specific from Mecham racing and what it does before taking it off.

 

It is a motion sensor for an aftermarket alarm system. The screw with a locknut is to adjust the sensitivity.

Now that I told you what it is, I'll tell you that I have no idea whether Mecham Racing installed an alarm system as part of it's package of upgrades or not.

If I were forced to guess, , , , 50 / 50 chance of being right or wrong, , , , , , I'd guess not.......

 

Pretty sure it's part of the ol' "Chapman" alarm system. Seemed like most early Thirdgens had that thing installed at the dealership back-in-the-day.
