I Keep Leaving My Lights On...

Ok, this may seem like a dumb question, but there should be a warning buzz or something when you leave your lights on, right? I cannot remember if my last Camaro had a noise or not, but my current one doesn't...and of course I keep leaving my lights on (call me blonde! ).
Anyone know how to fix this? I'm very sure all my fuses are ok, but when I bought the car, many wires had been yanked in certain places...even now several hang around that I'm unsure of.
Help would be VERY appreciated because I grow tired of being told my lights are on (although I was once paged as the person owning the black Viper).

My 83 has no buzzer, or it doesn't work.

If you can do a little wiring, you could figure out what wires are for lights, and wire them to the "ignition" terminal on the fuse box (there are normally empty spade terminals for battery and ignition switched power). I have not done this so I can't say how well it would work (or if the lights would be fused anymore!), but it would theoretically shut them off when you turned the key off.

Anybody know how this would work?

Jeff

Do you get a door chime/buzz if the keys are in & the door open or when you 1st start the car (should be a noise w/the seatbelt light)? If not then someone may have just yanked the noise thingy from the "convienience" center. Or... you've just got some bad wirirng.

mine used to work but when i put in a new ingintion cylinder it quit. I think there are some controlls in there to tell it when the key is and then what is still on.

Yes, I do get the door chime/buzz and the seatbelt noise. So what wire should I be looking for? I'm assuming something will have to be taken apart to get to it?

You can buy a buzzer at any autoparts store or even WalMart in the auto electronics section. Comes with instructions on how to tap into the headlight and ignition wires. Will buzz with ignition off and headlights on. Had the same problem on my 89 Astro Van and my Dad's silverado.
