Fuel pump issue

1986 Iroc Z28, Fuel pump will not run when key is turned on. It will cycle when using a jumper wire from battery to plug under dash. Switched out fuel pump relay also. Not sure what to test next

Re: Fuel pump issue

On a 1985, Firebird,V8, there is a 20 Amp In-Line fuse near the battery that feeds the fuel pump. I don't know for certain a 1986 Camaro is the same, but it's worth a look.

Re: Fuel pump issue

I don’t mean to hijack this thread, but I have the same problem. I have an 87 IROC with the factory Rochester 4 barrel carburetor. The car lives in the garage. I took it out and washed out the engine compartment using a garden hose. No high pressure and I made sure to stay away from the electronics. The car sat out over night and when I tried to start it, it wouldn’t start. And hasn’t started since. I cranked it and put a shot of ether in the carburetor and it started momentarily so I know the ignition system works. And the carb has a relay in it and I can hear it clicking. The fuse box is different than an EFI car. I checked the fuses and found them to be good. Yet there is no power to the boost pump in the tank.

So… are there any relays that are in the engine compartment I can check? Or perhaps a separate fuse box? I’m convinced that the problem is electrical and not a failed pump. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions?
