Is my Fuel pump bad?

I tried to turn on the fuel pump today to see if it will work. But when I turned they key to the on position I heard the relay click but no fuel pump. So I tried putting 12V to the G terminal on the ALDL and I heard the fuel pump relay click again but no fuel pump. I thought this was supposed to bypass the relay and just turn on the fuel pump?? Anyways I'm thinking my fuel pump is bad. So I'm coming here to see if I missed any thing. Also the car's front end is on jack stands would this make it so I cant hear the fuel pump or the pump not turn on??

Re: Is my Fuel pump bad?

get a fuel pressure guage and attatch it to the schrader valve and you remove all doubt.

Re: Is my Fuel pump bad?

I disconnected the fuel lines, and nothing came out when I tried to turn the pump on. So the fuel pump is bad... Would that also cause the car to die some times while driving?

Have you checked the fuel pump fuse?

Re: Is my Fuel pump bad?

The pump was bad, and the fuse is good. I hate taking the gas tank out! If anyone has to take the tank out follow the repair book directions and if you still cant get the tank out the axle has to be lower or the car has to be higher. Height is key to getting it out.

But thanks for the help and I hope this fixes the dieing once in a while problem.

Re: Is my Fuel pump bad?

It really is not that bad as I said car height is key to making it so much better.

Also if your always replacing them like monthly look at the valve under the gas tank and next to the other fuel lines that come out. It can get clogged and that puts a lot of strain on the fuel pump. I'm replacing mine because I broke it when I tried to take the hose off it. But I found a way to make it work till the replacement comes. By clipping off the little wings and filing them down to attach the hose back on it for now. However I have no idea how to test them...

Ill post the part number once I get it to make sure its the right part.
