VATS Key
I’ve got the resistor to bypass the VATS system. I’m assuming that once this is done, I can use a pre VATS GM ignition key without a resistor pellet. Can anyone confirm this?

Re: VATS Key
Removing the wires at the bottom of the column and inserting the appropriate resistor on the body side not column side bypasses the key reader. So yes a different cylinder or non vats pellet key can be used.

Re: VATS Key
My vats system is bypassed now because under the previous owner someone tried to steal the car and broke up the ignition. Its one of the main reasons I got the car so cheap because he could not find anyone willing to work on putting the new ignition in. I simply bypassed the vats, car started right away and I drive away within 10 mins and the guy stands there looking like an idiot. But because someone tried to steal the car the ignition was pretty messed up. I got a new gm normal style ignition with classic square key and all is well.
