4th gen to 3rd gen stereo question...

Anyone know if a 4th gen sound system or CD player, speakers, etc. will fit in a 3rd gen?

Just had Monsoon cross my mind...

I know a 4th gen radio will fit pretty easy w/a few mods-but not sure about the monsoon deal. But-you can make anything work as long as you're determined! If you decide to do it make sure you get all of the wiring for it.

I put in one of the newer GM stereos. I believe it was from a 98+ Truck, M/L Van, Cavalier, etc. Anyhow, all I had to do was get into the stereo cavity with a die grinder to chew away some of the plastic that was in the way. Also, the connector may not fit despite it looking like it will (same pin patterns). To fix that, use a utility knife to remove the plastic "rails" that are on the connector.

BTW, If you find a COMPLETE pinout of these stereos, let me know, please. I've got all the basic things connected (power, speakers, etc), but would like to work in the speed sensitive sound, and the feature that allows the deck to play until you open your doors when the car's been turned off.

Check out this site:

I used the info there and put a '96 GM stereo in my '83 T/A. Easy to do!
