- what is a fuseable link ?
- Can i replace it with something else than the orginal but with the same value ???

Fusible links are basically thick fuses. They provide protection from massive short circuits (I blew one when the wires coming from the starter burnt on the exhaust and shorted). They are sold in gauges, not amps. I've heard that you should use a link 2 gauges smaller then the wire you're protecting. You can replace them with fusible link that should be available at an auto parts store, or you can get replacements that will already have the connector for the starter bolts crimped on.
The reason for using these instead of fuses is they have less resistance and cause less voltage drop under load.
