New Alternator??

Guys-

What the hell...

Ok, so my alternator died on me yesterday, right... well me working all day long doesn't leave much time to wrench on the car (except weekends)... so I decided to take it down to a Chevrolet Dealership this morning to have a new one put in...

I just got off the phone with the service department, and the bill is $348.82!?!?!

How much does a new alternator cost?! I thought about $100 TOPS....

I know labor is $70 an hour, and don't tell me it took em more than an hour to change it out!

I haven't been by to pick up the car yet, have I been royally ripped off?! (I think so!)

eeeeek

you were taken...they always screw ya with labor...

changin an altenator is a 5 min job...2 wires 2 bolts and a belt...

I changed mine 4 times now (damn faulty switch)

2 times in the Autozone parking lot.

60-120 for an altenator depending on amp. (after core return)

You been screwed. Hey Guys, repeat after me, I will work on my own car the dealers are a rip-off.... If you can't work on your car you have no business owning an old car unless you don't mind being taken by these crooks. Personally, I wouldn't let these grease monkeys change the oil in my lawnmower, and touch the Z no f...ing way.
