Headlight Door

Headlight Door

I have an 89 Firebird, the drivers side headlight door is starting to hesitate when turned on. Is there a repair for this , or do you have to replace the whole motor ?

your bearings are probaly gone. The gear that the motor turns for the doors have bearings that are plastic. I just fixed mine and replace it with 7/16 steel bearings and they both work great. Take out your whole headlight assembly. You'll have to take the headlight out because 2 of the bolts are under there and two are near the top. Disassemble(sp) the motor not from the top by the **** but your see the side where the gear is. Just tear into it and you'll see what I mean. Hope I helped some.
