clicking from under dash ?
uhmm i was taking the 84 on a 30 mile long trip down freeway to springfield last night and along the way something under the dash was making a wierd metal springy tangy type noise follwed by a click! sounds like its coming from near the front door pillar/headlamp switch area. What the heck could this be ? It mostly only does it as I am traveling along at freeway speeds..
wierd... sound slike a metal spring steel something winding up for about 2 or 3 seconds and the a click! car trying to tell me something ? its annoying yet freaky at the same time, and pretty loud.. maybe this has happened ot someone else here ?

I get the same noise, it sounds like a fuse poping but it isn't. Does anyone else have this problem?

yeah kinda like a relay popping or something, or like a turn signal switch screwing up maybe, mix of those kind of sounds
Ok, I had the same noise comming from my dash. It only happend when the car was at highway speeds. heres what it turned out to be... my windshield had come unglued (the black stuff at the bottom) in the corner. As the car flexed it would make a springy sound. I had the insurance co fix my windshield and the sound went away.

i dunno, thats sure interesting though.
it also was doing it as low as 30 or 35mph and even did it once at almost a complete stop at a light, so i dunno, windshiled is broken in this car, but still... sounds like some kind of metal tangy sounding thing under dash winding up and releasing and click hmm, kinda reminds you of the sound of a camera automatically winding film, that kind of sound

definitely not an exhaust leak, its like a component of some kind making noise
i noticed that the entire bottom of my windshield had come undone from the cowl of the car, and it is broken on passenger side, 4 or 5 cracks across it, and is loose, so maybe possibly it is windshield related, although I would think the sound would come from a little closer to where the cracks are..
hmm..
just an odd wierdo sound and only did it during trip on freeway, im gonna take it back out on freeway on the next day that its not raining and see if it does it more.
thanks

Re: clicking from under dash ?
Kinda a few years late, but mine was doing the same, it happen to be the odometer. The 3 digit miles you can reset, they wernt moving, and they normally do, i pushed the button, the clicking sound went away, every time i hear it i look down at my gauge and see the numbers wanting to click but they dont,

(5 years later) Thats pretty much what happened to mine, click was consistent with RPMs so I thought it was a lifter but it turned out to be the tripometer trying to reset
