Alternator, Power windows, Engine fan, Heater all dead
Alternator, Power windows, Engine fan, Heater all dead
I have an '88 Camaro with a 305 TBI and I have no clue what could cause the alternator, the power windows, the ingine fan, and the Heater to quit on me at the same time? I tried replacing the alternator, that didn't help!
The repair manual that I am using has a wiring diagram but does not show where all these might be connected together. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

thats a little too much, I dont know were to start. The only place they all meet is the battery. Need more info, what happened when the new alternator was put in? Did it start?Any problems before? Check fuses? Were the window motors acting up before?
All the fuses at the fuse block are good, the car starts and runs fine, and no I didn't have any problems with prior. It all just went, all at once. Thier was no change when I put the new alternator in, alt. guage reads 8 volts. I did check the wiring at the alternator and found that it was not getting power to the alternator field wire so I used a short wire and ran it from the battery to the field wire and everything suddenly worked again. I could leave it at that, but would rather compleate a proper repair.

I had a similar problem years ago, windows, blower fan, wouldn't work, so I dropped the steering column down a little and took the ignition switch off and apart and a spring had sprung out of its compartment and was touching other metal, I replaced it and everything worked fine.

Thank you for the insight, I checked my ignition switch and found part of it was melted. I don't know if this is the only source of the problem, but I'm sure that it is a major contributor. I plan on replacing it as soon a finances allow, I'll let you all know how it turns out.
