85 Trans Am TPI ?

I found one in a yard yesterday, should I pull it? Before/If I do, I wanna see who would be interested. And what it is worth. Also I have never pulled one. How difficult? How long does it take? What will I need? 305 5.0 I think. Any hints help suggestions?
Offers?
I have to get pics camera was down.
Thanx,
Ray

Re: 85 Trans Am TPI ?

The wiring is going to be a pain in the ***. I just removed the T.P.I. harness of my '86 T/A. Other than that everything is straight forward with just basic hand tools needed.

This T/A being the first T.P.I. car I've owned, not sure if it was just mine or if it's all of them, but, the runners are held on to the plenum and intake by torx bolts.

Make sure you have an array of screwdrivers and wrenches and some choice words.

Re: 85 Trans Am TPI ?

Ray,
Be aware that the 1985 model year was the first year of the TPI. The computer and related wiring is specific to the 1985 year only. It was regarded as the "stupid" year because the processor was no where near as proficient as the years to follow. Therefore the electronics for that TPI are not popular for TPI swappers, in fact, most people avoid it. The rest of the hardware, like the plenum, runners and base are interchangeable with other years, as is the motor. They maybe worth something to someone that already has a harness and computer.
