hey everyone, i have a small block chevy 350 short block to sell since i bought a complete engine today. the block is used and i would recommend it be rebuilt. Here is what i know: it's from the 70s, it has 4 bolt mains, was in a 1983 monte carlo turbo hot rod and ran great (previous owner was an old friend), was kept inside a garage for the past 5 years, not sure if it's seized and haven't turned it in fear of messing something up. i've been told these old blocks are stronger. the short block consists of: block, pistons, connecting rods, crank, timing chain and gears, timing chain cover, harmonic balancer, and oil pan. in one of the pictures below i captured the block number for those who wish to research.

this was a honey of a motor when it was running and wish i could keep onto it for a jeep conversion but my car needs to be finished this summer. this engine is a great foundation for a strong motor. additional pictures available!

Do you know if anything is done to the motor? Only askin cuz I saw you mentioned turbo in the post, can you see if there's
part #s on the pistons?

 

a good friend of mine had this in his monte carlo. there was no turbo on this engine, the original engine of his monte did. sorry for the confusion. he didn't do anything internal with it. when i told him i bought it off of a mutual friend of ours he advised me to put domed pistons in it as it is a low compression motor and i told him i wanted it for my GTA. I've since bought another engine for the GTA. This engine is really just a lump of clay for you to mold into whatever you want since it needs to be cleaned up and machined fresh. he had a saginaw 4 speed mated to it so it has a roller pilot bearing in the crank. still has a balancer on it. obviously, it's not drilled for roller lifters since this is pre '86. Along with what i stated in the opening post that's all i know of it. i hope this helps.
