For sale is a 5.7L/700R4 powertrain removed from my 87 IROC-Z. This powertrain was installed in my car (by original owner) when the oil pump failed in the original motor.

The 5.7L/700R4 powertrain was removed from a low-mileage 1989 TransAm/Firebird and has an estimated mileage north of 50k miles and installed in my car (previous owner) circa 1995. The car has seen 500-1000mi/year since then. I am restoring my vert back to the original 5.0L configuration.

It runs great. If interested, I have a video of it on a cold start just prior to pulling the engine. Includes all engine/underhood wiring and computer. Runs very strong & sounds great.

I would include video here, but it is too large. If interested, PM me please.

Pickup only in Troy, MI....$800 OBO.

Re: 5.7L & 700R4
No, sorry...I want to keep them together. The trans is very tight and I'm sure could move easily...I just don't have room.

Great idea Davidgou....its my first video...a little redundant. The light whine is the alternator - needs brushes. There seems to be a time delay between pushing accelerator and the engine noise....there is no delay, just a facet of the camera!

Re: 5.7L & 700R4
Clarification: At the time of the video, I was not SURE (although I was told it was) the engine was a 5.7L, but have since then verified on the block that it is in fact a 5.7L.

Great video Sandslot! Very clear, great resolution, and as I said before, too bad you're not near Miami, 'cause I sure would love to have that engine installed in my GTA

Re: 5.7L & 700R4
No problem...it is on ebay now and will end in a few days. I've had dozens of inquiries and expect it to go. I am selling at a $850+ on ebay, but will honor what I posted in 3rd gen.

If you want to email, pls use rockervert@sbcglobal.net.

Update: to my knowledge, this engine used no oil between the oil changes (annual oil changes)

Re: 5.7L & 700R4
If I had some place to keep the engine, I would get this in a heartbeat. I really don't think my mom would be too happy if she couldn't park in the garage because I bought a bigger engine for my 'Vert. Have you figured out what's happening with the car you took the 5.0L out of yet?
