Re: New Hurst Dual Gate 2 Shifter #292000
the only reason why they dont make the dual gate shifter anymore is cause b&m bought them out and started the mega shifter, if they did decide to remake them. it would be the bomb but its highly unlikely but either way im down for the cause

but how about maby.. bringing back the lighting rods..and this time for 4 and 5 speed automatics..
now that would be Cool!
heck.. i would buy one and pay $400
if they still made them

+1 on lightning rods!
had a set in my 79 Z28, nobody else had those- and at the car shows they def added that unique touch. i thought they were cool, a 4 speed version would be interesting. but alas, it will never happen.....

It'll be here right after the BBK TPI intake hits the shelf!
Re: New Hurst Dual Gate 2 Shifter #292000
I was going to call them on monday to find out what is going on.
I have a complete new one in the box..If they are reproduced it would be
6-12 months before they could be ordered..

It's easy to say that when both of you are sitting on the sideline's doing nothing to help the reproduction get started...

Re: New Hurst Dual Gate 2 Shifter #292000
Hey RS, how serious do you think these guys are about getting the reproduction started? We are looking at 6 - 12 months from when they start right?
Re: New Hurst Dual Gate 2 Shifter #292000
They have been trying to locate a complete shifter.
When Hurst was sold they didn't keep one or the plans to build one.
I sent people to them that had a complete shifter but, they never contacted them. So, I located a new one in the box and have it...So, I will contact them this week and see what they say...If they reproduced the shifter it would be 6-12 months before you could order it again.

Re: New Hurst Dual Gate 2 Shifter #292000
I was wondering what you would have us do? Say a prayer? Throw salt over our shoulder? Sacrifice a goat? We have no shifter to donate. We've indicated our interest and willingness to spend. It's been 2 months to the day since the original posting of this thread. I'm certainly no expert but present computational power is measured in teraflops. Your original picture wasn't enough to even start the reverse engineering process? All we've heard of so far is a few phone calls/emails. I don't think a bit of skepticism is unwarranted.

Re: New Hurst Dual Gate 2 Shifter #292000
lets not start a war over this, 1991-RS I applaud you for doing what you have so far, many people have been dying for this shifter but NOBODY has put this much effort in to getting it reproduced, I can attest finding even a used one is hard as hell, but finding a complete NIB one and allowing a company to use it so the rest of us can benefit deserves a medal

Re: New Hurst Dual Gate 2 Shifter #292000
I talked to Joe at "The Parts Place" he wants me to ship out my shifter to them in a week. Because they are getting ready to do a show right now. They have been waiting for the other people, I told them about that have complete shifters to call them back but they never did....
B&M the current owner of Hurst gave
"The Parts Place" the green light to
reproduce it if they want too.

Re: New Hurst Dual Gate 2 Shifter #292000
So from this point on 1991-RS, what would you like the rest of the people reading this thread do? So there is no war ,no stupid arguments,or anything BUT helpfull suport or adding are self to the list of people that would like this shifter.
I know I have looked for that shifter, at least once a week on my list of parts I try and find over the internet. Just b.c we do ot speak aloud ,does not mean we are not trying to also help.I personaly have not come up with any shifter on my searches so I have not commmented on it.
Everyone relax and something might happen but their is a chance it wont.

This will not happen over night..They stopped making these about 7 years ago and it took me alot of time trying to track a new one in a box down.
They didn't know where to even begin to locate one because it was discontinued before Hurst was sold. "The Parts Place" said they may have alot of the parts on hand from old stock they bought from Hurst before it was sold but they didn't have a complete shifter to reproduce one thats why, I started the search for one. They know that alot of people want one..Thats why they are willing to see if they have the extra parts to make them again or reproduce the shifter

Re: New Hurst Dual Gate 2 Shifter #292000
I contacted the parts place and according to them they are still looking for an original shifter. If anyone has a complete one they are still looking sales@thepartsplaceinc.com
Re: New Hurst Dual Gate 2 Shifter #292000
I had a 72 Cutlass with a factory installed Hurst dual gate in it, it was a lot of street fun behind a 455 BB. The only thing I would change from the Camaro kit is I would have them produce the entire shifter plate to replicate the factory piece instead of the partial as with most the corners are cracked or broken off at this point. If they are going to all the trouble of reproducing them ... why not?
I bought one of these shifters about 6 years ago from Karbelt Performance in Canada, it was one of the last available and cost me somewhere in the range of $325.00, I sold it unfortunately as I went to a 5spd.
Just my thoughts for what it is worth.

Re: New Hurst Dual Gate 2 Shifter #292000
Seems like the problem is locating a complte shifter and then getting someone to ship it to them.
