I can try to get you one with the rubber isolator but won't be able to have them until next weekend.
From what i can tell they only came that way 1 year so they are harder to find.

Re: GM Steering Shaft Upgrade

Another happy customer here. One of the best upgrades you can do. Also - installing the astro bearing is a breeze, definitely worth the $10. Just keep in Mind you will have to shave a bit off the top of the steering column end as mentioned before - I tapped it with a dremel a few times and it was more than enough.

Does the bearing go into the steering column itself?

Oh well the only reason it has the rubber isolator is to help stop road vibration right

Thats the theory, i personally did not notice a difference but i only tried one for a few miles then put my chrome Jeep shaft back on. I only did it to test it.

Re: GM Steering Shaft Upgrade

MC87SS I have sent you a pm about one of you steering shafts for GM. Also, to those of you have done this, how's it working for you? I have replaced pretty much all the suspension components front to rear of my car as well as sfc's and strut tower brace and the steering shaft and rag joint are still original to the car and in need of replacement. Thanks for any input form those you have done this.

Re: GM Steering Shaft Upgrade

Many have asked the difference in clearance between the Jeep Shaft & the GM Shaft. Here is a side by side comparison of the upper end.
The black one is the Jeep Shaft.

What benefits do you get from this upgrade.

I have a 91 Camaro I'm guessing I should go with the GM part

no benefit yet, my car is in a thousand pieces.

I expect a little more clearence, clea
er appearance, and firmer more responsive steering.

Thanks, glad you are happy with everything.

Its been slim pickings lately on the shafts. I have been getting a couple here and there but usually have more people on the waiting list then i can get shafts for.
Hopefully supplies will get better now that the weather is getting warmer.
I have talked to a few people about pulling the shafts and shipping them to me to prep and sell but so far only 1 person is helping me get them.

I will keep everyone informed.

Re: GM Steering Shaft Upgrade

Picked up some Jeep & GM Shafts yesterday and have more on the way.
PM me if you want one.

I remembered to take a few pics while doing the prep and figured i'd share so everyone can see how much work i put into these.
Although this is a Jeep Shaft i do all the same things to the GM Shaft plus clock them 90 degrees so they bolt right in.

This is what they look like after i separate and clean them.
Compare this pic to the 3rd, you will see where i weld them to eliminate any slippage.

I clean the threads on both the shaft and bolts.

I carefully split and remove the plastic bushings and ship at least 1 with each shaft so they can be put back on after all the test fitting is done and your ready for the final install. I do this so it makes it easier to install and so they don't get destroyed during the prep process. I also clean the inner part of the shaft with a wire brush and grease it before shipping.

Re: GM Steering Shaft Upgrade

Is grinding the upper steering shaft required? If so, which dremel attachment did you guys use? There isn't a whole lot of space in there...

Re: GM Steering Shaft Upgrade

Just a small notch is required.
A small file, dremel stone or cutoff wheel will do the trick.
