Re: GM Steering Shaft Upgrade

Hi MC87SS,

I PM'd you yesterday. I am interested in the mod as I recently purchased a set of SLP headers and I understand when installed the stock steering shaft on our cars will rub on the header. Which steering shaft is ideal to combat this issue. (GM or Jeep shaft?)

Elongate the hole a 1/4 at the column base and slide it over if it rube. No biggie

They all install the same.
The GM shaft is a nicer unit in my opinion.
Solid or rubber is personal preference.

Re: GM Steering Shaft Upgrade

FYI: I finally installed the bearing and shaft on my car. The bearing needed a 1" deep socket and a little tapping with the ratchet to get past a sticky spot. Bending the brake lines was a pain - more for future header clearance than required for the swap.

On a scale of 1-10 on parts swap difficulties, I rate it only a 1! Well, 1.5 for needing a dremel to notch the steering column for the new bolt.
