If your interested let me know, all are painted black.

Re: Steering shaft upgrade
It eliminates the rag joint takes the slop and play out of the steering wheel. Very popular mod.

Re: Steering shaft upgrade
Isn't there an issue with steering wheel alignment with these? I may be wrong but I remember reading some threads a while back that debated whether these wound up with the wheel 90 degrees off. If you can provide information clearing that up I'm interested in one. Thanks.

The one with the isolator is now sold, I have a few shafts left ready to go, and could go pull more if anyone is interested. I can get more with the isolator if those are more in demand.

Re: Steering shaft upgrade
I have not personally installed or driven a car with the isolator yet, I would assume its not much difference just a preference. I can tell you with the regular shaft I was very pleased with the feel of the steering wheel and slop was eliminated for sure. I have some of each if interested let me know!

Re: Steering shaft upgrade
To be honest I am not 100% sure, as I have not installed one with a isolator on my car yet. I have been told it reduces noise and vibrations. Although I didnt notice noise and vibrations with my GM one...
Right now the one with the isolator that I have is spoken for, I can see if I can get more but I do have other GM ones ready to go.
PM coming.

Re: Steering shaft upgrade
Just getting around to installing the shaft... real solid piece! I'm having trouble getting the steering wheel to be dead center. When I compare the old to new shaft, when the gearbox side has the flat part on the bottom the old shaft would be 90 degrees at the steering column. The new shaft would have the steering column part be up straight up and down. I'll try to get pictures tomorrow. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Been away from the site for a bit but I do have 4 shafts modified, painted and ready to go if any one is interested in them. I will also be making a trip this weekend to get some more.
Thanks

Hmmm replacing the shaft itself wouldn't reduce play unless yours was bent or something. Replacing the rag joint (the piece that couples the shaft to the steering box) with a solid ujoint for example would make the steering more responsive. If your rag joint had play in the first place then it will obviously make a bigger effect.

Re: Steering shaft upgrade
What's your trick for getting the shaft out of the van? I have it off the steering wheel side and the bolt off the input shaft on the steering box... Tried to pry it open with a hammer and chisel. Had to give up as the yard was closing and it was a blizzard.
Its one with an isolator.
