[SOLD] Hurst T-5 shifter
[SOLD] Hurst T-5 shifter
Hurst T-5 shifter which I had installed on my 85' which was non WC. I'd appreciate if someone can educate me whether this would also fit the WC.
Summit has it listed for $205. I'm asking $95 shipped.

Re: Hurst T-5 shifter
Summit page indicates it does fit an 84. That is what I believe as well since there are really only two flavors of the T-5, regular and WC. World class didn't come out till 87, even that tranny was mostly the same so there might be one fit for all. Here's the hurst page which also confirms it fits all:

Actually I noticed the housing is different, it looks like I have an older design, the newer ones are billet aluminium. I think geometry is the same though, what they've done is move the pivot point up about 1.5" or so which changes the shifting feel compared to stock unit.
Regarding shifter length as it happens I have both shifters handy. Stock is 11" from pivot point to threads, hurst is 10.75". Hurst shifter handle bolts on to lower mechanism so you can modify or probably get a different stick. I do think the real magic is in the modified pivot location however.

Re: Hurst T-5 shifter
Exactly, "short throw" references the distance needed to move between gears, and is not referring to shifter stick height. A stock shifter, and the hurst, can have the same length shifter, but the hurst will still be a shorter "throw". WC, or non-WC both accept the same shifter. Most hurst shifter have interchangeable sticks for different stick heights and designs as well.

Man you are fast! I think the electronic delivery signature ink was still wet by the time you had it installed.
Keep an eye on the 2 bolts that fasten the shifter handle, they can come loose over time. I've safety wired other shifters in the past.
Good luck and thank you
