Re: Parting out 91 formula g92, 350 l98 hardtop

Who decides to part a car like that? Looks like it's mostly there, paint is still shiny, supposedly runs and maybe drives... Seen a lot of forum members over the last 20 years start with a lot worse car. With a few body parts and some detailing that'd be on par with plenty of overpriced thirdgens on Ebay. I need parts, but can't believe what some people consider a parts car.

Only three real reasons to part a car like that.

1. Title issues.. this kills tons of usable cars

2. Greed $$ (cars are usually worth more in parts)

3. Issues with the car we can't see, like some real nasty rust

Unless it was changed, should be a 3.27 Borg Warner w/ posi and rear disc (PBR)

Last year for the BW rear was 89. So it should have a 28 spline 10bolt with 3.23 gears. (EDITED to change to 28 spline, Dang I hate getting old, thanks for the reminder blksunshine lol )

Being a '91, it should have the 28-spline 10-bolt in it.

problem is tire kickers, and time wasters. Everyone wants to bitch about someone parting a car out, yet nobody wants to pay for a whole car that needs work.

it's a 3.23 10 bolt I'm pretty sure , reason for parting is mentioned above, it's a clean title car, no rust.

Not everyone, per-se. I got mine for $1800, and have redone most everything. It was a rust free (roof aside), engine needed rebuilt in the end, but it was a good base to start from.

Before...

After...

Maybe I'm atypical, who knows. Just feels like a shame, but it will let many others' cars live on. Sorry

Not extensively, however there was no rust In the floors, rear impact bar, battery tray, strut towers or 1/4s..pretty safe to say it's clean lol

Oh man, now you're playing dirty... If it'd fit in a flat rate box I'd be all over this. As things are, I'm already over parking capacity. But that is almost too good a deal to pass up.

Please, someone step-up and save this car.

They're not a separate switch on later Firebirds. In other words the switch is a semi-permanent part of the harness, not a clip in switch like earlier birds. FWIW.

Re: Parting out 91 formula g92, 350 l98 hardtop

dash pad is cracked, as of right now, the car is still mostly complete, alot of interest in items, however shipping for large/heavy stuff is going to be expensive.

Prossi, which sill plate are you talking about? And i will sell the car as a shell for 550 with clean title.

This is the OP's point exactly.

Nobody wants the entire car and the parts become more valuable as age increases. Just a fact of life.

"Want" isn't the issue. Having a place to put another car, and having a way to move a car several hundred miles, are the issues. If I had room, I'd have several more cars tucked away. Probably better things are already crowded around here.

more justification. Most people don't have the time, resources, or space for a project car.

Re: Parting out 91 formula g92, 350 l98 hardtop

I need the window side skirts. The ones that prevent water from falling into the door I assume. Could I see some pictures of their condition? If they're good then how much shipped to 95116? I may also want the small rear hatch dust cover (looks like broom strands) that covers the hatch release mechanisms.

Thank you!
