Re: Nos 90-92 slp cold air intake

It is a great find. I had one about six or seven years ago that was still in the original SLP box. I sold mine without ever installing it. Aside from the air box, I don't see the justification for hype. Maybe the dual intake but not the single, and not for that price though. The intake tube is the same as the stock one.

yeah true but still slp and still brand new the air pipe new is still worth 250 I’ve seen several sell for that on eBay. As for the air box I’ve seen used ones well for 150 and this being new comes with all the hardware and harness extenders. I’ve seen the 88-89 ones sell for 500-600 so 91-92 ones never seen a nos setup so just threw it on here for 700 and 1000 on eBay. This is for someone that appreciates what it is and will go on a pristine car not your typical thirdgen

Re: Nos 90-92 slp cold air intake

Back in the day, SLP sold the 90-92 air box for $50 without all the extras. SLP stuff has a hype surrounding it that is so far out of line with reality that it's not even funny. If only the parts were as good as the hype.

That said, OP is right, someone will probably pay the asking price.

If I didn’t have a dual cold air on my car I would have paid 700 no problem for that

Re: Nos 90-92 slp cold air intake

If the plastic SLP used was more in line with what GM used on air boxes in the 90's, instead of the plastic trays flowers come in from the green house, I could probably understand the hype. But the "look at it wrong, and it cracks" plastic they used for the air boxes just really falls short of expectations. The 1/4 turn fasteners put enough stress on the plastic to cause stress cracks. A good idea, poorly realized.
