350 main caps

I'm looking for a set of one piece rear seal main caps for a 87 350 block. Also a good used oil pan for the same 350.

2 bolt, 4 bolt? You know 305 caps will work. You also know you cant just replace the caps, its going to be align honed right?

I thought all 87-93 blocks were 2 bolt, anyways it is a 2 bolt. You are right the 305's will fit but they are not a direct fit since the 305's use a smaller main. The mains will be align bored.

Nope your wrong on both. Some of the truck blocks are a 4 bolt main. 305 and 350 mains are the same. You can take a crank out of a 350 and slap it in a 305. Stroke is the same, mains are the same, and rods are the same.

Yes, but also despite having the same stroke, 305s and 350s use different cranks.

The castings are the same. The finished cranks are different.

The machining of the counterweights is different. The 350 has more mass left on to balance the heavier rotating assembly. You can tell the difference by laying a straightedge along the counterweights. The 305 crank will allow the straightedge to sit flat as shown in the picture.
