L98 heads Seals or?

L98 heads Seals or?

Hi, i have a 88 Gta L98 stock and the motor smokes on startup only, will new seals cure this problem or will the need guides too? They want a fortune to pull the heads, its cheaper to pull the whole motor and tranny. Suggestions please, seals be fine for now? $300.00 installed from wifes brother for seals.
