I got an 88 Firebird, 305 TBI. 700r4. I am having a hard time finding the correct cable. I've been to parts stores, junk yards, even a pontiac garage. Each time they give me one that does not match. Its really weird. The inner wire on all of them is way too short. Everything should be stock. I have other TBI parts and there identical to the ones on the car. It doesnt make any sense why none these other cables wont work. So, I was wondering if anyone has any detent cables. I got the mesurments and some pictures here to see if someone can match something up. With the inner wire pulled all the way out, it measures about 45" from end to end. And the inner wires pulls out about 7" total.

okay thats the cable I thought you were talking about. I didnt want to sound like a dummy, but at the same time I didnt want to spend half an hour pulling the wrong cable. I will go pull it tomorrow, it is from an 86 TBI, so I dont see why they would be different. If they check out, how does $25 plus shipping sound? BTW, my zip is 30040. Thanks, and let me know.

New ones are usually under 20. The pontiac garage charged 25 plus tax ( cant return that one). How about 20 shipping included. I wanna make sure its right though.

 

thanks... that shows how much I know about that car around back. I just know I bought it with a BW posi 9 bolt in it for a fiarly good price, and I figured it would have some little extras in there. Thanks for the info again, and Ill still go look.
