Tuning Software

I am so sick of researching all of this crap, I just want someone to set me up with all the stuff I need to tune my car, I research and constantly find half *** information, and no one ever posts where to find it, I HATE THIS CAR, I wish it was simple like using a piggy back tuner, but its not. So if anyone has stuff to get me set up with burning a prom or whatever the hell I need, Let me know.

Re: Tuning Software

You've read the stickies on the DIY-PROM board? There are several options out there; you have to decide for yourself what's going to work best for you.

Re: Tuning Software

That's the part I cant figure out. If i could see the stuff, and play with it, or just have a better explenation as to what does what and what you need, then it would be easier to decide.

Re: Tuning Software

You could try something like this to get you started:

laptop
ALDL cable (available at Moates, etc. - you can also build yourself I believe)
software (you can datalog and make chip changes with TunerPro)
chip burner (see Moates or Pocket Programmer)
chips/sockets (see something like the GP1 Package on Moates)

That's probably the simplest, and it's what I started with. This is a DIY kind of deal, so it's expected that you play around and figure stuff out on your own.

So with this list of stuff, I can figure out how to burn a chip? And datalog?

Thank you.

Re: Tuning Software

Yes, with this stuff you can datalog and burn chips. But like I said, this is a DIY deal; there are no instruction manuals to tell you what to do. To know what to change, and what to change it to, is up to you to work on. The answers are on the DIY-PROM board, but for most folks it's a pretty steep learning curve. I'd spend a A LOT of time reading on that board. I'd recommend downloading TunerPro and playing around with it first before you decide to move forward.

What mods have you made to your car?

Thanks, I have some experience tuning my old 91 eagle talon AWD turbo, it ran 8.82 in the 1/8th.

I bought my 91 T/A L98 running bad, and pushing alot of water and boiling over, It has a BBK throttle body(not sure 52 or 58mm) really nice 3" catback exhaust, SLP CAI, I have a set of MSD 8mm wires. MSD 6al, I am going with the patriot freedom series heads, not sure which cam yet, and eventually gonna go with a HSR. 24lb injectors, some sort of AFPR, I am still in the process of tearing it down, so plans could change depending on what all is wrong, But I dont want a slow car, so I am atleast doing this setup, just not sure how extreme on the cam, Oh and probly just some cheap shorty headers.

Re: Tuning Software

Sounds like a fun project! You probably know that your car uses the 730 ECM, which is very well documented here. Incidentally, I have a set of coated SLP 1 3/4 shorty headers still in the box just in case you're interested. I also have a couple of sets of never-used injectors.

Good luck with your project.

Awesome, I hope I get some good results from all of this.

What do you want for the headers I was just gonna use cheapies for now.

And I do need some new injectors, what are they?

You cam PM me if you need.
