Re: WTB an air intake

Are you talking about the air filter? If so, that's just a regular K&N (IIRC, p/n KNN-5000).

I've done an internet search and cannot find that P/N anywhere. Can you point me in the right direction?

Re: WTB an air intake

my '91 has MAP, no speed density....aren't the firebirds and camaro's the same....if so the they don't have it.

I read somewhere, I think on this board, that someone did a comparision of that air filter and factory setup, and the factory setup actually made more power, probably cause of heat being sucked in????

Re: WTB an air intake

yup... all that does is raise IAT temperatures... and sucks in hot engine bay air... A gutted tpi airbox with a couple of good filters will perform way better. We just took one of those filters off my buddies 91....

Re: WTB an air intake

Yeah...I've got MAP, so I could use this.
Yeah...Everybody tells me this is not a good set-up because of the hot air, but I think it looks great.

Re: WTB an air intake

OK...I'm also considering a cold air intake set up. Anybody got anything I can use? Any opinions on keeping my stock air intake and upgrading to a K & N filter?

Re: WTB an air intake

i run a gutted airbox in my 92 z28 with good k&n filters... Like i just said we removed a cone air filter off my friends 91 in favor of a gutted airbox with good filters...

Any way to get the engine a cooler air charge is gonna make it run better. Hot underhood air from the cone air filters defeats the purpose

Re: WTB an air intake

OK...what I was originally looking for looks great but ya'll have convinced me that function is more important. I will gut my airbox and install a new K & N filter.

Thanks everyone, I'm no longer looking.
