Running a used cam is risky business unless it came out of the same engine in which you're installing it, and all the original (used) lifters go back in the same locations relative to the cam lobes. Even at that, it's just not good economics; wiping a lobe will usually junk the entire engine.

While the factory cam is a discontinued part from GM, any of the aftermarket cam grinders should be able to provide you with a similar piece along with matching lifters/spring/retainers/locks.

If its a roller cam 305, which is what came in our cars but not trucks, he can certainly put a good used roller in there people do it all the time. I recommend finding a used L98 cam it should bump up your power and not require extra tuning. I plan to use one on my TBI build and they pop up on here for sale as ive bought a few of them. Inspect the cam and lifters they usually are fine to re-use.

From an Auto. Needs to be stock or near stock to avoid tuning. Car just needs to drive for a couple months while the LQ4 comes together. P/O installed a radical cam expecting the TBI to just deal with it.

I know we have some TBI cams in the garage. Let me ask my hubby when he gets home.
