Worked TPI plenum, runners, and manifold?

Not looking to burst my budget, but I'm throwing a cam, 5-speed, and a tune in my 120,000 mile LB9 and since I have to remove the manifold, thought I might see if anyone wants to part with a worked part for reasonable $$. It's still the stock long block, so I'm not looking for anything crazy necessarily, just something that will go well with the cam and let the tune do its thing. I want to maintain the stock look.

Got a set of AS&M runners if you are interested. I think they might have the 9th injector hole. I would need to double check.

Aftermarket TPI parts in a nutshell. In over 20 years following this forum, I can say with the utmost certainty that aftermarket TPI parts are not really worth the investment. Seldom do they make great gains in performance, certainly not in line with the $ spent. It's one of the reasons these cars have the reputation they have for not responding well to mods. Free advice, for whatever it's worth.

Thanks Drew. I'm going off the attached article. I know TPI doesn't breathe but I think it would be fun to do one. Easy on the budget and 535 lb ft and 450 HP is pretty dang good. Article by R. Holdener, March 10, 2007, Super Chevy

Re: Worked TPI plenum, runners, and manifold?

In 2007 you could buy second hand aftermarket TPI parts dirt cheap in the classifieds here. You could buy the stuff new for half of what used stuff goes for now. Check Google for Extrude Hone's price list. "Budget" doesn't really apply.

The intake in that article (extrude honed stock base, and stock plenum, plus TPIS runners) was a $1,000 setup, assuming they already had the plenum and base to send in for honing. Now in 2019, it's probably still every bit of that $1,000, potentially more since the runners are no longer made and you're at the mercy of a seller.

The magazine probably also didn't do a back to back comparison to a different intake system (carb or stealth ram, etc). It's highly likely that even the aftermarket TPI parts left power untapped.
