Yes very doable. The manifold bolts right on. Vettes used 350CFI engines, the only difference is the injectors. You can probably get by if you bump up the fuel pressure a little. If you don't mind having the car down for a little while or buying another CFI manifold, I recomend you check out the Crossfire Injection Vault, you will find some info on porting the intake which will really help you make some good power with CFI.

I think those old CFI manifolds flow real poor even when porting. I'm guessing your car to be an 83' or 84'. The CFI isn't much more emissions freindly than a carb. You might want to consider throwing on a performer and carb or get a TPI set-up.

The manifolds flow well if properly ported, the X-Ram ( which is basically a single plane with crossram top ) doesn't flow much more than good ported stock intake.

thanks sragtop! i figured i'd have to change the injectors..do you know what size are in my car?...i have an '83cfi/auto..runs really well. i'm new to this site..what is the crossfire vault? i actually do have an extra intake assembly i got out of a junkyard! boy, those ports are tiny!..however the engine is sucking 17-19"of vacuum..i'm scared that if i open the ports i'll lose induction. I've really first concentrated on my suspension, ie sfconnectors, arms, track bar, urethane bushings, trannie mount, engine mount. boy, she really sticks now...if only i can get 300horses and 300 ft/lbs..and you say it's possible sragtop?

thanks tburke. i really don't want to get into a whole wiring harness change...my car's electrics are a mess..the previous owners put in 2 alarm systems and a stereo system and so there are wires all over the place...none of them work but i'm too lazy to check each one and remove them. i guess i'll eventually have to. how far can a guy go cam-wise and still be legal?...10%, 20% bigger? i belong to my local camaro club but i tell you ii love this site!

300 hp? Hell yeah! Several people that occasionally post here but are often found on the CFI Vault have gotten over 300 hp with a ported stock intake. Sorry I can't tell you the size of your injectors, but the 350 units aren't much bigger. You also might want to add a 350 chip too, but if you really want extra power, go with the 7477 ECM. The best place to find out all of this info is the CFI Vault, www.crossfire.webhop.net/ . You have to be become a member to view all the good stuff. You'll find lots of pics on how to open up the intake without hurting anything.

No, that ECM is out of a later TBI truck, it requires a custom pigtail to work with the original wiring and needs custom tuning, but it is far superior to the original. This somewhat involved and not really required to run a hot motor but you won't see full potential with the stock programming.

thanks rsragtop..tx for the heads up on the crossfire vault it's very cool...i see they're mostly vette guys. it's very encouraging to hear that the horses are there even with less drastic measures. how about ken73's porting job? i think i'm definately going that route. how can i reach dan? i think he's the guy who enlarges tb's..i need to reach him!

I posted a message for him on the Vault, Dan goes by Lionsden. He charges about 95$ to bore the TBs out to 2", much cheaper than you will find anywhere else, plus he does excellent work. Yes the manifold has lots of hidden potential, the casting is so crappy from the factory there is a lot of room for improvement.

Do you still have the fiberglass crossfire hood? and if so, do you want to sell it?
