zepher- hot cam info
Hey man I was reading an old issue of hot rod. They did a hot cam swap into an impalla lt1. they had to machine the top of the valve guides down about .050 so the valve springs could reach full lift with the 1.6 rockers. I don't know if this applies to you or not but I figured that I would through it out there.
Hope this helps.

Oh, I am going to have to research this. I got my cam kit today and was going to put it in tomorrow (actually today since it's already tomorrow).
Thanks for the heads up with that tip.

PS on a aluminum LT1 heads you shouldnt have to do anything but have the new LT4HOT cam springs put on the heads no machining is nessary on the aluminum heads. now on the iron heads this might be a different story.

No card with mine, it was used.
The iron heads have a 1.25" spring seat while the LT1/LT4 have a 1.35" seat. I am probably going to have the seats enlargened for the LT4 springs instead of changing the springs.
I am not sure if using 1.25" springs on a seat that is 1.35" will work and I don't want to have to buy another set of springs if I get an Aluminum head in the future.
I'll be pulling the heads off friday and taking them to the machine shop and have them worked on. What machine work do you think would be good and cost effective to have done to the heads while they are in the shop?
I want to go in there and tell them what I'd like to have done since I have no machining experience and I don't want them to recommend work that I don't need. I am on a very tight budget since I am not made of money.
I can barely afford to get the motor installed into the car, trying to sell a lot of my excess motor parts I have lying around to gather up money for my Trans Am.
Thanks Guys,

I believe that you want the valve guides cut down around .050"
and the spring pockets enlarged. You may want to have the heads cut for screw in studs while you are at it.
Hope this helps, Kory
