complete l98 to lt-1 swap, please help
Hi guys, it turn out the 60k mile l98 350 engine i was going to buy was a 305 with 100k miles on it. So i got screwed on that deal. Now my dad found a 96 lt1 with 21k miles on the car today with tranny and fulling harness for $1200. He drove the car that had the engine in the car and sayed it ran great. So what i need answer is a question that has probably been on here 100 times. What do i need to do to change all the l98 components to lt1, is the driveshaft the same size? how hard is it to change all the wirring harnesses? I really dont want to mess with the harnesses because of what a pain in the *** it look like but i guess i will have to do it. If there is a how to on this please send me a link, or if you have personally done this swap please give me some info on it. Thanks alot

well as you know you cant put the tpi on the lt1.and you dont want to mess with the wiring. so i would say go carb. gmpp sells the lt1 carb intake for about $250.00 im doing this conversion now. the lt1 gets good gas milage w/the carb& makes awsome horsepower.as for the tranny & drive shaft will bolt right up. any ????? just e-mail .
Ok stop it right there, WHY, but WHY would you carb it .... just stop posting that all the time ... it's useless to carb it. Just get a el-cheapo 350 instead if you want to carb it ...
Now, you CAN do this swap ... all fuel injection F-body from GM uses the same color codes ... just match up the wires ... it's that simple.
The complicated part is VATS , witch isn't that hard to figure out ...
If you need help about this once you started the swap , there's a ton of guys on this board that can help you.
anyway about the carb...it's
to me .

Thanks guys, i am just alittle intimidated by having to change the wirring harness. I appriciated the replies. I think i will be getting started on it asap. Painless wirring wants $900 for the swap and they say it REALLY EASY. I dont think i wont to pay $900 for another wirring harness when the engine and tranny are costing me $1200 with the stock harness, what do you guys think?. One more thing. Is the tranny mount different on the 4l60e from the 700r4 i have in my car right now? later
