New L69 Hp
I ordered a new L69 today, and was wondering, HAS ANYONE ORDERED AN L69 WITH A "performance" CAM ??? THE ENGINE SHOPS OFFER IT AND STILL WARRANTY THE MOTOR FOR 1 YEAR. THE SPECS ON THE CAM ARE: .420/.443 lift and 204/214 duration, they say that it is a hassle free install when it comes to the computer, has anyone ever bought a L69 with this cam in it, or used any cam with the same specs??? A Crane Cams Blazer has the exact same specs...
I just want to know if you guys noticed a power difference, at least one you can "feel", or what kind of extra ponies I can expect from this cam, I was thinking 10-20 horse.
1984 Z-28 H.O. 5 speed: 3.73's, edelbrock: intake/open element/valve covers/ headers , hollow cat, and 3 inch 2 chamber flowmaster system, Accel: coil/cap/rotor/wires, and an Msd 6A, Hurst shifter, GTA wheels -
Motor in it now has a really lopey cam and started making a "I'm about to blow up" noise a few days ago, #8 cylinder has had a bad ring for about 2 months now, have to change the plug every week, even with an anti- fouler

That's a little less lift & duration than my computer-compatible cam (.454/.480, 216/228, 112 LSA), which my computer has yet to complain about. Crane insists it's not just lift/duration/LSA, though, but the total "package" of the cam that either upsets or keeps the computer happy.
If these guys say it won't upset the computer, then it probably won't. But, I'd hold them to that if it hiccups even once.
