that seems to be some serious uncharted territory your going into. Most people just get the ho 350 if they want power in that range. Youll probably have to fab up all your own stuff to get the benz v8 to bolt up, if its even possible. Ive never actually seen a v8 from a mercedese but i bet its alot different then the old been around forever sbc v8's that we have.
What year is the engine? Fuel injected? I was thinking of going the other way and putting a big ol' honking carbed SBC in my Dad's diesel Mercedes... emission exempt! Oh, yeah, what a sleeper a four door Benz would make!
Oh no...
I wouldn't suggest doing it. I've seen a Suburban with Benz diesel engine and tranny installed in it and servicing it was a real PITA. You would probably have to do lots of mods to make it all fit in whatsoever. I also doubt there's a conversion kit available for that kind of swap. Better go get a genuine GM engine and just toss it in and live happily ever after.

tas your dads 500 with smog stuff should be in the 250 hrs range!
remember that in 88 germany was laughing about emission stuff
only porsche and benz had to to turn pages to sell there cars in the us and were for that reason always with us smog laws!
we have several cars in germany with a chevy v8 motor!
Ford granada station,Vw Van T2,Opel Comodore and other wild Jags and some sleepers even in beetles!
gerke...not quite right! think of the 124 500E, this is the baddest german sleeper, only slightly wider fenders make the difference to the stocker Taxi version(or std grandpa version)
it looks like a 80 olds but with vette performance!
We have a guy driving that 500e engine in a small 190 e evo and this car screams!the 190 e engine department is tight but the motor fits!!!!!!!!!!!!
the average german "fritz " would get a total for 1000 dollar!
those cars have a low smog group ( that makes those cars expensive in taxes, so the 126 series is getting the hot rod motor for people that need horses cheap and pay there dept by a higher tax !

I understand this idea seems odd, and even stupid to some, but lets try to support the "Dare to be different" idea with cars (lets not forget the '94 Elcamino ss version from the caprice wagon). Its not like hes tryin to put in a Ford 302 or anything here. I say go for it, and try the best ya can
if it works out thats one more version of horsepower and economy combined, lets also not forget that its really nice to have great power and be able to go for several hundred miles between fill-ups, I know I cant do that!
